Industry standard nickel strips with.005” thickness requires between 120-130 joules in order to be welded successfully to common sub-C and similar batteries. Both the 160 and the 320 watt second units provide the needed energy for welding typical battery packs. When welding other sizes of nickel strips or other battery cells, the 320 watt second unit may be needed. If there is any doubt of current or future battery pack welding needs, the CD320DPM2 is recommended as the most popular welder for battery pack manufacturing.
